Talented sophomore Allen Mitchell makes the 4-hour long trip from Saint Louis, MO to Naperville, IL every few weeks to practice with the Midwest BOOM. Mitchell is part of the national team that is prepping for their final tournaments of the year. He is a skilled playmaker in the open field.
Heading into the summer he holds early offers from Kentucky, Kansas State and Kansas. Mitchell has also been in contact with Northwestern and Illinois.
He shared his thoughts on the Wildcats who are the most recent program to extend an offer.
“They’re an SEC program and I love how they used Benny Snell in their offense two years ago,” said Mitchell.
Mitchell plans to hit the camp circuit hard summer once the dead period officially ends in June. He is scheduled to camp at the University of Alabama and Vanderbilt while also participating in the Lindenwood Showcase.
At Missouri powerhouse De Smet Jesuit High School he plays running back but also spends lots of his time in the slot catching passes. De Smet is in the process of hiring a new head coach after Robert Steeples departed for the Minnesota Vikings.
“I’m a versatile player because I have speed. I can catch, play running back, run good routes and I can block.”
Mitchell is being recruited primarily as a running back but feels comfortable at receiver as well. He possesses good burst and field vision with the ball in his hands.
He will be suiting up for BOOM at the NFA Midwest Regional later this month.
