2023 WR Carnell Tate Talks Recruiting

Carnell Tate from Chicago, Illinois may have just finished up his freshman year of high school, he is no average freshman. Tate is quickly becoming one of the premier pass catchers for the class of 2023.

Tate holds early scholarship offers from Michigan State, Vanderbilt, and Cincinnati. He would have likely hold more offers by now if it were not for COVID-19 eliminating nearly every college camp across the nation.

“Schools were telling me that they were very interested and would love for me to get up to campus and check them out,” said Tate.

Programs such as Illinois, Notre Dame, Missouri, Minnesota, and Ohio State had all made stops inside Marist to see him workout prior to the pandemic.

Once recruits can visit programs in person again Tate will begin taking trips to the schools that have offered so far.

Cincinnati will be a dark horse school to follow throughout his recruitment as the Bearcats have done well recruiting in Illinois the past few years. One of Tate’s closest friends Jadon Thompson was the gem of their 2020 recruiting class.

“I talk to him everyday and he tells me all about Cincinaati.”

Standing at nearly 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds he looks physically imposing amongst his peers.

“I can go up and get the ball and separate from defenders when I am running my routes.”

Playing in the Chicago Catholic League provides him an opportunity to play against the area’s top talent on a weekly basis. The CCL Blue is regarded as one of the top leagues in the entire state of Illinois with teams making deep postseason runs on a yearly basis.
