BOOM Black Seeks Revenge in Las Vegas

February 20, 2020

This weekend BOOM will be traveling to Las Vegas to compete in a tournament filled with national competition. Coming off a tournament where they fell short of their championship aspirations to national ranked Fast Houston. Las Vegas will present BOOM with an opportunity to go showcase that they are national powerhouse and still the team to beat from the Midwest.

“We’re coming for one thing and one thing only. We’re winning it all,” said class of 2022 athlete Kaleb Brown.

Brown has been a member of the organization since he was in the middle and has seen his success with BOOM translate to results on Friday nights. This past season he recorded over 2,500 yards of total offense and received All-State honors as a sophomore. He currently holds scholarship offers from Michigan, Norte Dame and Illinois to name a few.

His running mate for the class of 2022 Tyler Morris expressed the same sentiments about BOOM expecting to compete for a championship this weekend.

“I feel like we’re really going to click this tournament and play strong throughout the whole tournament and really show the team we can be,” said Morris.

Morris is one of the elite prospects for his class and college programs have begun making him a priority. Some of his scholarship offers have come from Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan. Michigan is considered the current leader as his Nazareth teammate JJ McCarthy is the gem of the 2021 recruiting class for the Wolverines.

The defense for BOOM is led by 2021 prospects Benjamin Perry and Jaden McGill. Both have experience play in these national caliber tournaments, so they’ll need to vocal leaders as well.

BOOM has 6 teams competing this weekend in Las Vegas, with two High School teams, 1 Freshmen team, 2 Middle School teams, and 1 Youth team. This tournament that will feature over 200 teams from across the nation and is considered the largest 7v7 tournament of the year. BOOM won the Middle School division in 2017 and were runner-ups in the High School division in 2016.
